Enchantment Resort can be reached at 800-826-4180 or www.enchantmentresort.com . Another leading spa resort, centrally located at the site of the Schneblys’ original homestead and a short walk from the Tlaquepaque arts-and-crafts village, is Los Abrigados (800-521-3131 or www.losabrigados.com ). Sedona is full of fine dining and fine lodging; one standout for both is L’Auberge de Sedona, in a forested area in Oak Creek Canyon (800-272-6777 or www.lauberge.com ). For full information about the town’s many restaurants and motels and hotels at all price ranges, get in touch with the Sedona-Oak Creek Canyon Chamber of Commerce (800-288-7336 or www.sedonachamber.com ) or the Arizona Office of Tourism (888-520-3433 or www.arizonaguide.com ).

The jeep tour I took was given by Sedona Red Rock Jeep Tours, one of several local outfits that will take you out into the wilds on tours that generally last from one to three hours (800-848-7728 or www.redrockjeep.com ). The helicopter tour above the Grand Canyon and into Havasu Canyon was run by Papillon Grand Canyon Helicopters (800-528-2418 or www.papillon.com ); the trip I took is expensive—it runs several hundred dollars per person—but it’s also, at least for most of us, a once-in-a-lifetime experience. You can also hike or ride horseback into Havasu Canyon and stay at a campsite or a lodge at the base, along the river below the village; for information on that, call 520-448-2141 or see www.kaibab.org/supai/gc_supai.htm . Everything You Wanted to Know About Sedona in a Nutshell is available at local book and gift stores.
